How to gain twenty positions in five corners.

Chrises Cars - How to gain twenty positions in five corners.

From the ridiculous to the sublime.

Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia saw the final race of the 2012 MotoGP season and conditions were as nasty as you could possibly concoct for motorcycle racing, damp tarmac.

Conditions in the race were so tricky some riders actually just quit and newly crowned MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo was one of the many caught out by the conditions,  crashing from the lead as he was lapping riders.  Dani Pedrosa won that race helped by a correct setup and tire choice, the misfortunes of others and some great riding.

None of this phased Marc Marquez. The 19 year old spaniard rode his Repsol Suter Honda from DFL, 33rd on the grid to victory in the Moto 2 race. He passed 20 riders in the first five corners on his way to winning the 2012 Moto2 title…and all without safety cars!

I’m not going to far out on a limb saying we will see this guy a MotoGP champion in the next few years if he gets the right ride.

1961 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass

Posted: 12 Nov 2012 07:00 AM PST

Chrises Cars - 1961 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass

Traditionally, a cutlass is a short, heavy sword favored by pirates and other unsavory types. Agile, nimble and brutal, and able to be used in any situation, this resumes quite well the use that Oldsmobile put the name through! The first popular production car to bear the name was the 1961 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass, and while it was a bottom of the range model, it soon gravitated upwards to legendary muscle car status, particularly in the late 60s and very early 1970s. The turning point for the first generation of Cutlass was the introduction of a pillar-less coupe in 1961, followed by a convertible in 1962. As with most American cars of the time, the Cutlass was available with a dizzying array of options, seemingly designed to keep even the most astute buyer confused.

True to form, the Cutlass also featured an impressive array of available engines, ranging from a humble straight six, offering middling performance (at best) to a truly impressive 455 cubic inches (7.5-liters) V8, tuned by Hurst. The latest was only available towards the end of the run. With a mid-range 5.4-liter engine, the Cutlass could reach a top speed of 111 miles per hour, and perform a 0-60 acceleration in 9.4 seconds.

Even thought this generation of the Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass stopped production in 1972, the name continued on, and was used almost continuously for decades, on all types of cars. Versatile, just like its sharp and pointy namesake!

1961 Oldsmobile Starfire

Posted: 12 Nov 2012 07:00 AM PST

Chrises Cars - 1961 Oldsmobile Starfire

With a name borrowed from a Lockheed jet fighter, the 1961 Oldsmobile Starfire had a lot to live up to, and in the first years of production, it certainly did. While it was also offered as a hardtop, the ultimate Starfire always was the convertible. It was very expensive, of course, representing Oldsmobile in the personal luxury car market, and came with a wealth of standard equipment, including power windows, a tachometer, a Hydramatic transmission with a floor-mounted shift, power seats, leather bucket seats and more. Power everything, as they say. The Oldsmobile Starfire was an early success, and continued to sell well for years.

On the engine front, the Oldsmobile Starfire had nothing to be ashamed about. It boasted Oldsmobile most powerful engine, the 6.5-liter (394 cubic inches) Skyrocket, boasting 345 horsepower and a stunning 440 pound-feet of torque. Thus equipped, it could reach a top speed of 105 miles per hour, and accelerate to 60 mph in 9.7 seconds, impressive numbers for the early 60s.

Of course, nothing ever lasts, and the Oldsmobile Starfire eventually lost its shine. It had to compete with the Riviera, who was a formidable contender, and was cheapened by the appearance of the more pedestrian Jetstar I, with whom it shared a body and a lot equipment. The Starfire lingered until 1966, sans the convertible which was cancelled in 1965.

2013 Samsung SM5 Facelift 5 The first look of the 2013 Samsung SM5 Facelift has astonished viewers

Samsung motors have been selling large units of cars since the day it launched its first SM5 series in 1998. Although it was based in South Korea it has seen great achievements in its blooming years. However, due to competitions by Hyundai and Kia, this company has seen a slight decline in the market for some time. However, it is believed to revive itself with the new model, SM5 that has been revealed recently.

Samsung has gone forward in restyling the older model and has given it a brand new look. It has done away with the bland look of the former model and gone for a new and completely attractive look for this new car.

To begin with, a new bumper has been introduced in the front. It is far more immersive than the older one. Next, is the introduction of the new LED at the tail. It also has LED lights, which run comfortably during the day as well. Along with this, the new model has also seen a change in look and the color of its body. Changes have been made to the fog lights, grille, as well as window frames.

With these striking changes the car has caused a stir in market. The cabin however, sees less number of changes than the outer body. Samsung has given best efforts to improve the quality of the car. It has incorporated a great and upgraded multimedia system in the model. It also has a 360 vision system as well as a pressure system of the tire.

The engine too sees very small changes in the lineup. Revisions have been made in the consumption of fuel level and carbon dioxide emission levels.

This high version of SM5 series is bound to bring about a new change of events for Samsung Motors.
