1 of 343: 1967 Mazda Cosmo 110S Series 1 Posted: 20 Nov 2012 06:36 AM PST Chrises Cars - 1 of 343: 1967 Mazda Cosmo 110S Series 1 This 1967 Mazda Cosmo Sport is said to be fully restored and in mint condition, but is also said to have a 12A engine swap that appears less than clean in the photos. The seller doesn’t say much about the car, but does mention that it is Chassis #309 and that it has a FIVA B3 certificate. Some Google work reveals that the car participated in the Acropolis Historic Rally in 2008 and there is much more detailed information from the owner in a post here on the Japanese Nostalgic Car forum, where the eBay seller’s handle matches the claimed owner’s name. Find it here on eBay in Athens, Greece. Special thanks to BaT reader Greg M. for this submission.
We have at least two BaT readers who have owned Mazda Cosmos in Greece, so we hope that they might have some knowledge on this car, which was also spotted here on Flickr at a Greek car show in 2011, and here on a Greek language forum post in 2008. It is odd that such minimal info is given in the listing, especially when the JNC post has some very cool info. The “2003″ license tag almost looks decorative or like an event tag, but other Greek cars also seem to have this short format. The one blurry photo of the interior has it looking reasonably clean, but doesn’t show the seats or upholstery. That looks like either a Brantz or Halda rally meter beneath the dash, which was likely used in the 2008 event. The engine looks far from mint or restored, but it could be a fine runner. A 10A engine is said to also be available, which is a must-have given the collectibility of the model. In the JNC post it is said to be from a Mazda R400. This is a very interesting model and worthy of interest in any condition. We don’t mind that it is in driver shape, and think it is very cool that the seller has had it for a while and used it as intended. Most of these cars now sit in collections and hardly see the road. 14k-Mile 1990 Nissan Hardbody Pick-Up Posted: 20 Nov 2012 06:36 AM PST Chrises Cars - 14k-Mile 1990 Nissan Hardbody Pick-Up This 1990 Nissan Hardbody pick-up is offered by the second owner of five years who says it still has the factory tires installed. We love spartan trucks this size, a class that we don’t see offered in the USA any more. We might be biased since we had a Tamiya King Cab R/C truck as kids. Find it here on Craigslist in Salem, Oregon for $7500.
The bull-nosed design of these trucks is memorable, and it was one of the few Nissan efforts that could compete with the concurrent Toyota trucks that took away the bulk of the market share. They were also stadium raced extensively, which we love. The grey interior looks to be in appripriately wonderful condition for the mileage. Most of these trucks had 14k miles on them in their first six months of life, so it is great to see one looking so clean. What would we do if we had this one? Just drive it around town and for mellow errands. Toss the keys to anyone who knows how to drive a stick shift. These Wankel-engined front-wheel-drive sedans are full of fascinating engineering and importing this one is better than waiting another three years to find one in North America. Find this one here at Gallery Brummen in The Netherlands for 15,950 euros (~$20,400 today).

Posted: 20 Nov 2012 06:36 AM PST Chrises Cars - Side-Yard 1924 Buick This 1924 Buick is described as not having run in at least thirty years, though it looks to be a solid and largely complete example. We hope that this car can be saved by someone who appreciates the fact that drop top sedans are one of the most interesting of all the forgotten body styles. Find it here on Hemmings in Denver, Colorado for only $3000.

Posted: 20 Nov 2012 06:36 AM PST Chrises Cars - Shipped East: 1982 Mini Midas 10/19/12 Update: This Mini Midas has been on offer on various websites for the better part of a full year since we first featured it. This time it is about to sell here on eBay thanks to a no reserve listing with bidding currently at $4500. We want to drag race this against our former orange Saab Sonett.
From 1/14/12: The seller of this special-bodied Mini Midas says that it is one of only two in the country, and it resembles the Mini Marcos models that we have featured in the past. This one was listed in April on Craigslist in Orange, Calfiornia for $6500, then eventually sold via a $6k Buy-It-Now in July. It is now listed on the opposite coast here on Craigslist in Islip, New York for $6100. Special thanks to BaT reader for this submission! Posted: 20 Nov 2012 06:34 AM PST Chrises Cars - Drive a Tank Adventure Very few will probably have the need to learn how to drive a tank. The only reason why a civilian would even think about it is to gain the experience of driving one. It could be an exciting way to celebrate a milestone in one’s life or simply a way for veterans to share their experience with their family. For this fun purpose, there are companies offering tank adventures for a day. The tank adventures that are commercially offered to the public put the safety of students as the highest priority thus the restrictions. Children are not allowed to participate in this activity and children who do come to observe should always be accompanied by adults. Basic outfit requirements include comfortable and well-fit clothes minus frills that can be caught up in the tanks plus closed shoes. The only thing that civilians will not be able to do is to fire rounds from the tank since all vehicles used for this purpose are disabled to do so according to government requirements. Visit Wish.co.uk to find out where you can really drive a tank. The post Drive a Tank Adventure appeared first on Chrises Cars - Bringing You The Latest Motoring News And More |
Mercedes Ener-G-Force: The G-Class in 2025 Posted: 20 Nov 2012 06:32 AM PST Chrises Cars - Mercedes Ener-G-Force: The G-Class in 2025 This is how will the G-Class model be in 2025. Mercedes has an interesting prototype called Ener-G-Force.At the Los Angeles Design Challenge the theme of this year’s contest is dedicated to the cars of the future of law enforcement. However the Stuttgart company has also thought about a possible renewal of its SUV designed to create a “civilian” version of this concept car, 1:1 scale. The result is a car inspired by the G-Class but designed to give greater power. The Ener-G-Force has an imposing radiator grille and integrated headlights, with LED lights that create clusters in the form of a G. The front indicators and position lights are located on the front fenders, while the glass surfaces were significantly reduced. Finally in the place of the spare rear wheel and additional box has been integrated in the tailgate. This prototype is hydrogen fueled, with an innovative system. The tanks of the roof contain recycled water, which is transferred to the “Hydro-Tech Converter“. This converter shall transform this natural and renewable resource into hydrogen for fuel cell operation. Each wheel contains an electric motor, the power of which adapts to the road surface thanks to the electronic system Earth-Scan. The declared autonomy is about 800 km. Video: A Look Inside Audi R8 Factory Posted: 20 Nov 2012 05:35 AM PST Chrises Cars - Video: A Look Inside Audi R8 Factory Audi cars, from the small A1 to the big Q7, all have a certain character, a certain charm that sets them apart from others. And you just need to take a look at the way these cars are build to know why. In this episode of Downshift they take us to the heart of Audi’s Quattro GmbH, where they make RS3, RS4, RS5, RS6 and of course the R8. The supercar is actually made separately from the rest, because it has lots of handmade elements. It is all very nice, but you could argue it’s a bit too clinical and sterile for a car factory! That makes it all the more amazing how much soul and feel there is in the R8. The quality of Audi’s work is simple mind-boggling. Mercedes SLS “Desire” Promo with Dougray Scott Posted: 20 Nov 2012 05:35 AM PST Chrises Cars - Mercedes SLS "Desire" Promo with Dougray Scott Mercedes released yet another artistic promo videos, one of those short films worthy of a Sundance or something, this time boasting the SLS. The new ad features actor Dougray Scott, who is wandering around the city, looking for something to properly excite him; something genuine and fresh. Something like the Mercedes SLS. The way this car goes, and the way it sounds, well it can bring dead people back to life, let alone amuse a bored middle-aged man! SR Auto Audi R8 Spyder Speed Walker Posted: 20 Nov 2012 05:35 AM PST Chrises Cars - SR Auto Audi R8 Spyder Speed Walker The next SR Auto project car is based on an Audi R8 Spyder. They call it the Speed Walker, and this time it is more than just a set of wheels and some foil. This is a proper tuning package, complete with styling mods, wheels, interior upgrade, and even performance tweaks. On the outside the R8 Spyder V10 is garnished with a Hofele Design carbon fiber front splitter. The looks are further enhanced with the 20-inch PUR 4OUR Monoblock wheels finished in modern gloss black, and red brake calipers. Inside the cabin, SR has used a PPI carbon fiber steering wheel, as well as MA Carbon fiber glass center console and shift circle. As for the performance, the Lamborghini-derived V10 engine in this car is tweaked with Carbonio carbon fiber intake system, Miltek exhaust system, and APR ECU upgrade. SR doesn’t say, but given the 552 horsepower output of the standard engine, we reckon with these changes it is now good for at least 600 hp.
