Audi thinks lightness three new models which will be key Posted: 06 Dec 2012 03:08 AM PST Chrises Cars - Audi thinks lightness three new models which will be key There is no doubt that one of the keys that we will see in the future will be directly related to the weight. It is true that this kind of brand has always stood out for design and technology, but it is also clear that there must be global energy efficiency and each model involving a step forward in the final product offered to the customer. That’s why Audi knows that the key to its future models will be the weight, and that is why Audi already has in mind three new models that will arrive in a few years. In particular will be three models associated with the new Audi TT, Audi Q7 future and the new compact only 1 l/100km. One of three new models will be based on the Audi TT, a model that returns to its roots, as we discovered last month. Model variants will be as extreme as a GT3 if it were. And is that the Head of Audi’s Technical Development Wolfgang Durheimer:
So interesting that this new model will have a new chassis “multi-material” that give the new TT weighing about 1,000 kg, even taking into account that will house five-cylinder turbo engine and AWD that always makes these powerful variants heavier. In fact the new TT RS will have an engine of around 2.5 liter turbo that will produce about 335 hp and a weight of 1,000 kg this model will be as radical as a GT3. All thanks to the new MQB modular platform that was introduced in the new Audi A3. And indeed it is possible that Audi can go even further as it did with the Quattro concept car we saw in 2010. But it is still early. But it is noteworthy that Wolfgang Durheimer himself has in mind another very interesting product for the future. We talked about the new compact based on the Audi A1 that would have a consumption of only 1 l/100km. A model that classifies Durheimer himself as “affordable” and with four seats would offer “all the benefits and comforts of a normal car, including the air conditioning system.” A reference model is the Volkswagen XL1 we saw a while. And in any case, be noted that the weight is not the only problem in development, but it will be a major key. We also have to talk about the future Audi Q7. A model that will benefit from the new “multi-material” that Audi has developed that could see its debut in the Audi Q2 future. But it is clear that the new MLB modular platform that is based on the new Q7, but the new materials, the new generation will even about 200 to 300 kg less. A chassis that must be finely tuned and we’ll see hybrid variants as does the Porsche Cayenne or the Bentley SUV that the British firm is already preparing. What is clear is that the weight and volume is one of the major impediments so Audi cannot obtain large consumption records and efficiency. And the next generation will be better odds. And without mechanical improvements that may enter from the brand with the four rings. The future is very interesting, no doubt. Volkswagen Phaeton 2015, will mark the design of other models Posted: 06 Dec 2012 03:08 AM PST Chrises Cars - Volkswagen Phaeton 2015, will mark the design of other models There is no doubt that the big brands looking to establish design lines with general trace every one of its models to be unambiguous and have a very strong brand spirit. That is why we like it or not, many brands develop similar models that only change the overall dimensions and little else. I am usually not in favor of this type of design lines, But it is true that all brands, but with a component risk, have to be online or general design languages for all its models. That is why Volkswagen has chosen 2015 as the Phaeton model to design the next line. A model that has never had great sales figures despite being at the level of other brands like BMW or Audi in terms of luxury and design. But perhaps it is too expensive for a Volkswagen model. As you know if you usually follow our blog, the new Volkswagen Phaeton will not be ready until 2015. But the flagship of Volkswagen will bring many more innovations that initially thought. And the news is that we cited previously, now we must add that the new Phaeton 2015 will mark a new line and design language that will make the other models. A model that has just launched a premium version in order to attract more customers, but that seems to need a new design even more attractive because it has not had all the success that the German company had wanted. And is that the current version of the Phaeton is based on the previous Golf, which itself VW Design Chief, Klaus Bischoff, has admitted it was a mistake:
A new design Klaus Bischoff, continue to have a look ever more futuristic, but without losing practicality or driving experience. However, there is still much to see the subtle changes that Volkswagen will experience in the future. But we have to wait. Perhaps this new strategy to be even more sense than before they were carrying so far. We will see. Audi aims to create a model capable of consuming only 1 l/100 km Posted: 06 Dec 2012 03:08 AM PST Chrises Cars - Audi aims to create a model capable of consuming only 1 l/100 km In recent days we have known a number of rumors about the future of Audi. A future that featured a range of new SUV complementing the current offer that ran from Q2 to Q8 while it also pointed to the possibility of finding a new sport fitted with a mechanical hybrid with a diesel engine and electric, Audi R10 … but there is more. Alongside these rumors increasing the family SUV and sports a curious proposal diesel has appeared another pointing to a new utility in Audi. A model derived from the current Audi A1, with four seats and “with all the comforts of a normal car”.. but can with 1 liter of fuel per 100 kilometers. Sounds like quite a challenge to get. In group VAG and no experience with a car capable of scoring a consumption of 1 l/100 km, Volkswagen among its prototypes with the XL1, but it seems that Audi want to get away from the conceptual aspect of the XL1 and provide a utility to use, with four seats, giving also the diesel engine 48 hp 0.8 liters and in conjunction with a 27 hp electric block. This Audi can dial 1 l/100 km could adopt the platform of the Audi A1 , but easing inside and chassis, plus the use of carbon fiber for certain components. Seems ruled the diesel engine of the Volkswagen XL1, propeller we could meet soon in the Volkswagen Up! But not rule out the use of a mechanical hybrid to get such consumption. Sounds a barrier too utopian, but it seems that Audi are willing to get. We’ll have to wait to see if the rumors about this ultra saver utility are reflected in a concept car or stay just words. Green light for production of the Lexus LF-CC Posted: 06 Dec 2012 03:08 AM PST Chrises Cars - Green light for production of the Lexus LF-CC The new Lexus coupe would have already been cleared to reach target production according to the latest rumors from Autocar. We can expect the Lexus LF-CC production one rear drive platform shared with the Lexus IS and GS , with a shorter wheelbase and offering both coupe and cabrio version , covering the space left by the Lexus SC. For the mechanics of this coupe, remember that was presented on the occasion of last year’s Paris Motor Show , it points to a mechanical hybrid , following the steps of philosophy Hybrid Performance of the brand (low consumption and high performance). In Paris was presented with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a rectifier, but we could wait for his arrival as a production model the presence of a 3.5-liter V6 with about 306 horses , the block present in the Lexus GS 350 . We cannot ignore that recently we were not to registration of the name RC 350 by Lexus, a name that seems to be reserved for the production version of the LF-CC. Jaguar XFR-S 2013, officially unveiled in Los Angeles Posted: 06 Dec 2012 03:08 AM PST Chrises Cars - Jaguar XFR-S 2013, officially unveiled in Los Angeles Everyone knows that Jaguar is doing quite well during the last two years. New models and worked increasingly better developed and more efficient technology, but without losing any of the inheritance to which we are accustomed Jaguar: elegance, sportiness and luxury alike. And today we’re one of those models that we love. We talked about the new Jaguar XFR-S 2013 that has been featured in the Hall of Los Angeles 2012. A model will be the most radical version of the Jaguar XF and recently we had seen and drabs. And I can say that ion models will be one of more exciting to see over the next 2013. Today we are to speak of a model that was caught not long ago. We talk about the most radical version of the Jaguar XF and special, the XFR-S. A model highly anticipated by fans of great sports sedans in the world, as the BMW M5 as great icon. We have to remember that so far the Jaguar XFR Speed Pack was the special version of the XF, and now has been overtaken by the XFR-S 2013. And it likes to throw Jaguar special versions. In particular I must say that this version has a 5.0 liter V8 engine turbo capable of delivering about 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque maximum (about 40 hp and 55 Nm more than the XFR). That is why this sedan is capable of being catapulted to 100 km / h in about 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 300 km / h. But also in this XFR-S 2013 has not left anything to chance, since it has a new exhaust system that will improve the engine sound is perceived within this sports sedan. Of course, the XFR-S has an automatic gearbox sequential 8-speed to suit the driver’s needs. It has an automatic mode that detects the driving, steering and throttle or brake to suit the driver’s needs in real time. Also the front has been completely revised in bumper to increase by up to 70% the downforce generated by the wind at high speeds. Has also been revised diffuser and side skirts to improve downforce sports overall. Also the suspension is 30% harder, and has wheels 265/35R20 Pirelli guy in front and 295/30R20 in the rear. How to add cruise control to your car, truck or motorcycle Posted: 06 Dec 2012 02:27 AM PST Chrises Cars - How to add cruise control to your car, truck or motorcycle Not all cars, trucks or motorcycles come with cruise control from the factory. Cruise control on some cars is standard but many cars have it as an option. Some cars, like the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution don’t even have it as an option. Luckily, there are companies out there that create aftermarket cruise control kits make it easy to add this feature to virtually any vehicle. I have a manual transmission, will these kits work for me? My vehicle is drive-by-wire, do I need a special kit? What about wireless cruise control switches? What kind of switches are available? Do I need any extra sensors like a vehicle speed sensor? Do these kits void your warranty? Some kits say they require dealer activation. What does this mean? Where can I get these systems installed? Do you recommend someone? I want a complete system, is there something available? Do you have install instructions available? Where can I buy a kit for my vehicle? Related Posts:

Casting “Formula Drift: The Movie” Posted: 06 Dec 2012 02:27 AM PST Chrises Cars - Casting "Formula Drift: The Movie" I'm kind of a Formula Drift fan-boy. I try to catch every event and I have followed the series grow from what many thought was a flash in the pan into the fastest growing Motorsport in this century. Part of what makes FD so great is that everyone has their own hero – someone in FD that they love to follow. Think about it – there is everything from Ford to Chevy, Nissan, Scion, Turbo, V8, Rednecks, Surfers, American’s, Japanese, and Australian’s and don’t forget about all the drivers from Europe. Everyone can find someone that they share some kind of motorsport bond with. All of this makes Formula Drift so great. As I reflect on the fact that FD is about to start it's tenth season, it got me thinking about what the next 10 years are going to look like for FD fans. I couldn't help but think, man… this is going to make an awesome movie one day! Long story short, I don’t know why it took me so long to do this! Since each driver has their own distinct and unique character, I couldn’t help but think which actor would play what driver or member of the FD community if they were to make a movie. So here’s what I came up with so far:
