British GT, Brands Hatch

The Trackspeed Porsche of Tim Bridgman and Gregor Fisken claimed a richly deserved and hard-fought victory in round four of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Brands Hatch this afternoon. Their car took control of the two-hour epic following the mid-race refuelling and driver swaps, Bridgman putting in a dogged final stint to resist a late surge from Matt Griffin in the Mtech Ferrari 458 he shares with Duncan Cameron. Bridgman’s victory margin was just five seconds.

Fresh off his win two weeks ago at Spielberg, Martin Tomczyk nails a superb finish at the DTM Lausitzring and now leads the Championship. With 63,000 spectators watching, Tomczyk went from forth to third and hounded the two leading Mercedes cars. By the third lap, he was past Green for second and started aiming for first place, Bruno Spengler.

Tomczyk would stay out longer than the leading drivers, putting the hammer down and overtaking Spengler by lap 16.

“My A4 was fantastic again today, incredibly quick and extremely easy to drive,” said a jubilant Tomczyk after his second consecutive win. “I love my car; it is huge fun to drive it – and the team again did a perfect job today. It’s a great feeling to be leading the DTM with a year-old car.”

With the win, Tomczyk now leads the Championship by one point over Spengler.

Timo Scheider, went from 9th on grid to a 2nd place podium finish. Again, using late pitstops like his teammate, he was able to overtake the three Mercedes drivers ahead of him.

Oliver Jarvis had a decent race improving one place and scoring a top five finish. He did have a podium in his sights but it didn’t work out.

Tom Kristensen, was proving to be a great choice, filling in for the recovering Mike Rockenfeller. He started 7th and ended up 7th, securing valuable points for Audi.

Other Audi drivers:

Filipe Albuquerque – 8th
Mattias Ekstrom – 11th
Rahel Frey – 15th
Miguel Molina – DNF
Edoardo Mortara – DNF
