Audi & Lamborghini at World Ducati Week 2012

Posted: 16 Jun 2012 10:00 PM PDT

Hey, what’s going on everyone? Very little is missing at the opening of WDW (World Ducati Week 2012), held in Misano from June 21 to 24. But the announcement that the presence of Audi as a “WDW2012 Official Car Partner,” makes it just a bit more exciting. With the recent acquisition of Ducati by Audi Group, it is only natural for them to be there.

The prestigious car manufacturer will be actively present in the paddock at the Misano World Circuit, showcasing its prestigious cars but also offering the public a series of fun on track with the “four wheels” presentations.

Audi will also set up an exhibition of the latest models, including the new S6, S8 and R8 LMS.
And for those looking for adrenaline-fueled experiences on the track, Audi will also offer the opportunity to do a lap as a passenger on dream cars such as the R8 LMS R8 V10, with experienced professional drivers of course.

In addition to Audi, Lamborghini, will also attend the event with two of its most exclusive cars, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Road and Aventador LP 700-4.

New Photos of 2013 Hypermotard 848

Posted: 15 Jun 2012 10:00 PM PDT

Hi guys, check out the likely pictures of the 2013 Ducati Hypermotard 848. Expected to have a detuned lump from the Ducati Superbike 848 EVO, it seems to have lost the undertail exhausts.

There seems ample evidence that Ducati is set to revamp the entire Hypermotard line, or at least consolidate it down to a single model. Of late, Ducati has slowly been phasing out its DS models, instead using variations of its water-cooler superbike motor.

Voice your opinions at Ducatist.

My New Beater/Commuter

Posted: 14 Jun 2012 10:00 PM PDT

What’s up people? I’ve been off two wheels for a while now, and with gas prices the way it is, there is no other perfect time for me to get back on the mechanical horse. A good buddy of mine recently got deployed and left his pride and joy in my care. It’s a 1998 Suzuki TL1000S. Check it out.

The Suzuki TL1000S was introduced in 1997 and was produced until 2001 and is frequently referred to as the TLS or Suzuki TLS. It is notable for the V-twin engine which is still used in Suzuki’s modern SV1000 and V-Strom 1000 motorcycles.

The TLS motor featured a 90° V-twin for perfect primary balance and had hybrid chain/gear driven cams. A traditional cam chain turned a gear that in turn rotated the cams. This hybrid design eased maintenance immensely and gave the motor additional aural character because of the gear whine. The motor was also used for the Suzuki TL1000R. Suzuki also sold many of the TL motors to Cagiva to be used in the Navigator and V-Raptor models. Bimota also used the engine for their popular Bimota SB8K.

Check out this head to head comparison of the Piaggo Zip SP 70 Malossi and the Yamaha T-Max.
Enlisting the help of Davide Zenari and Luigi “Superpann” Pannone, the two raced around the Varano De’Melegari track in Italy.
