Practicality Meets Class with the Nissan Dualis Posted: 17 Nov 2012 03:00 AM PST Chrises Cars - Practicality Meets Class with the Nissan Dualis Who says you can’t have a family car with style as well as substance? The Nissan Dualis manages to be tops in terms of safety and reliability, yet still has the trendy features that make this sporty number so fun to drive. When reading car news, you may notice that compact SUVs are one of the top options for families, and the Dualis fits right into this mid-sized category. It’s small enough to offer excellent handling in suburban areas, yet still large enough to handle rough terrain on road trips. Drive and Safety FeaturesDriving the Dualis feels like dancing the tango, with its fluid range of motion. You can choose from 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive modules, both of which provide easy steering even around tight corners. The dashboard is logically laid out and the steering wheel is uniquely designed with its 3 spokes, adjustable to get the perfect fit. The seats are placed high enough to afford excellent road views even in the most impossible traffic snares, and the legroom is decent enough to keep gangly-limbed teenagers happily. One aspect of this car that you’ll see mentioned in any Nissan Dualis review is the fact that there’s only one type of engine to choose from at the moment. This is a 2.0L petrol 4-cylinder engine, which feels smooth out on the road. You might notice a bit of wind whistling in your ears when you get up to high speeds, however, and speed junkies may not feel that this provides enough power for their liking. The safety level is top-notch, with the car awarded five stars by the ANCAP. Top features include six airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, brake assist, stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes. Fun FeaturesWhen you’re stuck out in traffic on a hot summer afternoon and the kids start to whinge, a great feature is the air-conditioned glove box to keep your drinks nice and cold. The most basic level Dualis ST offers air-conditioning, cruise control, a CD and MP3 player, and Bluetooth. There are audio controls mounted onto the steering wheel so you don’t have to fiddle around with the dashboard while driving. If you upgrade to the Ti model, you’ll get buttery soft leather seats, a six-disc CD changer, and an impressive panoramic glass roof that will have you driving out into the countryside just to gaze at the stars. Eco-Friendly FeaturesThis may be a compact SUV, but it’s still a large vehicle. Without a diesel engine, the gas consumption is average at best, using 8.4 litres of fuel per 100 km in the manual version and 8.51 litres per 100km in the CVT variety. This equates 36 mpg in the manual version. The carbon emissions are similarly average, with the tail-pipe emissions measured at 184 grams per kilometre. Although this isn’t necessary a bad number, it’s not the best in class either. The Bottom LinePower junkies and those wishing to save on fuel may want to look elsewhere for a rival with a higher engine power and better fuel economy. However, classy features like the panoramic roof, leather seats, and stereo system make this family friendly car feel like a luxury vehicle. If you want room enough to keep your brood comfortable but still want some perks to keep you feeling footloose and fancy-free out on the road, the Nissan Dualis strikes a good balance. Up Close With BMW M5 Ring Taxi – Video Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - Up Close With BMW M5 Ring Taxi – Video The BMW M5 Ring Taxi is exactly what its name suggests; it’s a BMW M5 F10 that for 216 Euro takes you and two of your mates for a lap around the Nurburgirng. It is not the same as driving on the track, but seeing as the car has a pro driver at the wheel, you get to experience the Green Hell at full speed. Check out the M5 Taxi revving and accelerating for the camera after the jump. The car doesn’t sound standard to us. It probably has one of those Eisenmann Sport Exhaust systems installed. The M5 is powered by a 4.4 liter bi-turbo V8 engine that develops 560 horsepower, and gives a 0 to 100 km/h accelerating time of 4.4 seconds. It also has one of the best sorted chassis among all sport saloons. Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio Teaser With Massa and Alonso Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio Teaser With Massa and Alonso The Scuderia Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa are in the U.S., preparing for the American Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Fiat used this opportunity to film this teaser for the Abarth 500 Cabrio, set for debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month. You might be familiar with the Abarth 500C in Europe, but it’s new to America, which is why they needed to create some hype. Abarth 500 Cabrio is powered by a 140 HP 1.4 Turbo T-Jet engine. With a peak torque of 206 at 2000 rpm it gives a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 8.1 seconds, which is not exactly mind-blowing. But then with Abarth cars it’s mostly about the feel of the thing rather than outright performance. Abarht 500 is one of the most fun small cars in the world. The looks of the Fiat 500C Abarth have also benefited from the new design 17″ diamond finished alloy wheels, including the sought-after diamond finished 5 petal white wheels.

Porsche Cayenne To Get e-Hybrid Variant Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - Porsche Cayenne To Get e-Hybrid Variant In 2014 Porsche will update its Cayenne SUV with new styling details, new options and new technical features. The absolute highlight of this update is the addition of a new plug-in hybrid variant, or e-Hybrid, as Porsche refers o it. It will be similar to the normal Cayenne Hybrid, but with more emphasize on the electric motor than the V6. With the e-Hybrid Porsche is after satisfying electric performance. They want the car to be more usable for more of the time using just electric power, thus reducing its emissions even further. So it will get a new electric motor with up to 100 horsepower output, located between the gas engine and the transmission. Given the 330 horsepower of the V6 engine, the Cayenne e-Hybrid will have like 420 horsepower combined which is more than enough to offer a good Porsche-like drive. It will offer the performance of a V8 with fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder. That is, of course, when the whole system is working. In pure EV mode all you get is that 100 hp of the electric motor, which is why it’s only suitable for city driving. This system is a plug-in hybrid, which obviously means you have to plug it in to charge the batteries that feed the motor. However Porsche is working on another system called e-Charge, which is very complicated, but essentially it utilizes the power of the onboard gas engine to do the charging. 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Teased Ahead Of L.A. Debut Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Teased Ahead Of L.A. Debut This dark images serves as a teaser for the new Mitsubishi Outlander, set for debut at the 2012 Los Angels Auto Show. The American show will also see the debut of 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition which they say is something cool and eye-catching. The 2014 Outlander though looks very familiar and doesn’t seem to come with any groundbreaking features. Mitsu says the new design emphasizes exterior aerodynamic efficiency. The car will in fact be among the most fuel-efficient compact CUV with 7-passenger seating as standard when it launches next year. To that end its engine will be equipped by an advanced MIVEC continuously-variable valve lift timing system for increased fuel economy. Other features of the new Outlander worth boasting include Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Priced at $441,600 In U.S. Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Priced at $441,600 In U.S. The amazing Lamborghini Aventador Roadster has a base price of 300,000 Euro in Europe. That, based on today’s exchange rate, is about $382,000 USD. But that’s not what it’s going to cost in America. No, in the United States an Aventador Roadster will cost you at least $441,600. That is of course before you add the $3,700 gas guzzler tax, but no one paying nearly half a million dollar for a car cares about an extra 3 or 4 grand. Is it worth it? Well, if you have that kind of money lying around then hell yes. What you would you rather have: some money in the bank, or this sexy beast? The Roadster Aventa comes with a two-piece carbon fiber roof, which as we’ve shown you before is not very clever, but it gets the job done. The power comes from the same V12 engine, it has the same ISR single-clutch transmission, and gets the same push-rod suspension. As a result this Lamborghini is one of the fastest open-top cars in the world with a top speed of 350 km/h, and 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of just 3.0 seconds. 1600 hp Bugatti Veyron Is A Go Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - 1600 hp Bugatti Veyron Is A Go We first heard about Bugatti’s new and even faster Super Veyron back in October. Now the project is confirmed by the company’s chief vehicle engineer Jens Schulenburg, and all those astonishing numbers we first mentioned are true. That means the Super Bugga will have 1,600 horsepower, it will do zero to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds, and it will reaffirm the Veyron’s position as the fastest car in the world with a top speed of nearly 290 mph. Apparently, that W16 engine had a lot more potential than Bugatti first thought. It started life with 1001 horsepower in the first-gen Veyron, then boosted to 1200 for the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport. For the new super Veyron it is going to be heavily modified, growing from 8.0 liter to a staggering 9.6 liters, and get revised quad turbos. And if that’s not enough, Bugatti is also going to shave about 250 kg off the weight of the car. They also need to work on the car’s aerodynamics and suspension, and find some new tires that can tolerate that kind of speed. Question is, will they stop there, or are they going to keep going until they make a flying Veyron? Speaking to AutoExpress, Schulenburg said: "We are working on the next super-sports car," He added: "The big challenge will be reducing weight – we are looking at some incredible technologies, such as wheels made entirely from carbon fibre. We're considering hybrids, too." The post 1600 hp Bugatti Veyron Is A Go appeared first on Chrises Cars - Bringing You The Latest Motoring News And More |
Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Color Renderings Posted: 17 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST Chrises Cars - Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Color Renderings It’s been only a couple of days since Lamborghini showed the new Aventador Roadster to the world, but honeslty in a pretty dull color, so we’ve decided to put our hands to work and rendered a few new colors for the “Convertible Jet Fighter”, at least until Lambo itself decides to create a configuration tool, which will happen… probably never as always! Check out the red, blue, grey and green renderings after the jump and tell us what you think!
