At E3 People were stunned by Forza 4′s graphics, according to Turn 10′s game director Dan Greenawalt. The developer also reckons the Xbox 360 game will be finished in five weeks.

“We saw that at E3,” Greenawalt commented to CVG. “People are really stunned by what we’ve been able to achieve with an engine that shipped in the box twice previously.”

Greenawalt explained how the team managed to avoid the typical end of project crunch by “metering ourselves all the way along,” which he said is “really the unsung hero of games development”.

“Right now, we’re just heading into finalizing the game ahead to certification, which is making sure we’re complying with [Microsoft's rules] on the box. There’s about five or so weeks until we submit the finished game.”

Top Gear’s reasonably priced car will be in Forza 4. We also detailed Forza 4′s Autovista mode at E3 earlier in the year, which takes advantage of Kinect.

Forza 4 is due for release exclusively on Xbox 360 on October 14.

Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, who is currently design director at Renault Samsung Motors, will become design chief at Volkswagen Group’s Seat brand, VW said on Friday.

Mesonero-Romanos, 34, succeeds Luc Donckerwolke, who moves to a new role as VW Group’s head of advanced design, reporting directly to VW Group Design Chief Walter de Silva.

Both appointments take effect Aug. 1.

Mesonero-Romanos is a Spanish native and graduate of the Royal College of Art in London. He previously worked for VW Group between 1995 and 2001.

Mesonero-Romanos was involved in designing several models at Seat and was in charge of exterior design on various projects for the Seat, Volkswagen and Audi brands before he moved to Renault in 2001, becoming head of advanced design in 2007. He was named Renault Samsung Motors’ design boss in 2009.

Donckerwolke, 46, who was born in Peru and studied in Brussels and Switzerland, joined VW in 1992 from Peugeot as an exterior designer at Audi. In 1998, he moved to Lamborghini as design project manager and was appointed Lamborghini’s design chief in 2003. He moved to a similar role at Seat in 2005.

With a top five finish two weeks ago at Lime Rock, Falken Tire is looking for its first ALMS victory at the challenging Mosport International Raceway this weekend. Team Falken’s Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, prepared by Manager Derrick Walker and driven by Porsche works and Falken team driver Wolf Henzler and his partner, team driver Bryan Sellers, will compete in the popular GT class and continues to run strong, due to the combined efforts of the team.

“We are very close,” said Walker. “We had a podium finish at Lime Rock, but circumstances led to our being penalized 90 seconds on the final lap and that dropped us to fifth. It didn’t dampen our spirits, because we know what kind of car we have and what we’re capable of delivering.”

That will prove even harder to do at Mosport, located north of Bowmanville, Ontario, with its narrow track and constantly changing elevations throughout the 2.46-mile course. Nevertheless, the veteran racetrack enjoys the reputation as being the fastest circuit in the American LeMans Series and attracts a loyal fan base within Canada and from the north eastern parts of the U.S.

“I always enjoy coming to this track,” said Sellers. “It’s both tough and tight, which makes it as challenging as you can get, what with all the traffic we have to navigate through. What’s more, weather consistently plays a factor in terms of track conditions. But our tire engineers will choose the right compound AZENIS RT Slicks and that should give us an edge.”
