Hello everyone, this is Paul with another exciting Suzuki Hayabusa update. It’s not our Hayabusa and it’s not stock, but you will be excited nonetheless.
The proto-typical go-to engine for anything from Go-Karts to ultra-lights, the Hayabusa has fueled the dreams of thousands. Bill Warner, a marine biologist from Wimauma, Florida, wanted to go fast; 311.94 MPH fast, in an open cockpit motorcycle. He chose the Hayabusa, turbo-charged at 1,000 HP, of course.
Far faster than a typical airplane needs to take-off, this record-breaking run at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine was about testing wheels, BST carbon-fiber wheels from Blackstone TEK in South Africa.
These new DOT-approved wheels will soon be available for everyone to purchase for race or street use (several varieties are already available). With thick spokes, the 8.5 inch wide rims use 240-series tires and were designed to withstand the high speed forces threatening to tear apart them apart at over 300 MPH.
The BST Carbon Fiber wheels are already available for several motorcycle models from many manufacturers including Aprilia, Benelli, Bimota, BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, MV Agusta, Suzuki, Triumph, Yamaha, as well as custom fitted. Prices range anywhere from $1,000 – $3,000 and come with either steel or ceramic bearings.
The wheels alone didn’t make the record, Mr. Warner’s Hayabusa was also helped by AiM Sports dataloggers, Alisyn oil, APE, ARP fasteners, Brock’s Performance, BST wheels, Continental tires, Crower rods, Dainese leathers, Full Spectrum Power batteries, Garrett Turbo, Heads Up Performance, Injector Dynamics, Knecum Performance, Larry Forstall Racing, M&W ignitions, Marine Crankshaft, McIntosh Machine and Fab, Millennium Technologies, MTC Engineering, NLR boost controller, Ohlins suspension, R&D Transmissions, RCC Turbos, Spiegler, Swain Tech Coatings, T1 Racing, Tial, Web Cam, Weimer Welding, Weldon pumps, World Wide Bearings and Zip Sensors. Take your pick on which glorious engine mod (Ward Performance and Motors by Knecum) did the most to brush aside that wind in less than two minutes.
