With the 12 Hours of Sebring right around the corner, we have awesome news coming out of the SimRaceway camp! Audi Motorsport’s Allan McNish, has signed on with one of the top sim-racing games to hit the broadband pipes, SimRaceway. The 24 Hour of Le Mans winner is the third professional driver to sign on with SimRaceway. McNish joins Dario Franchitti and the late Dan Wheldon (1978 – 2011), ensuring that SimRaceway will become the best online racing experience.

McNish will assist in the development of the game’s authenticity as well as vehicle physics. He will also be training the next generation of real-world drivers at its racing facility, the Simraceway Performance Driving Center.

“When we began our search for a driver to help us perfect Simraceway’s sports car physics, Allan’s name was right at the top of our list. The sheer depth and breadth of his knowledge and ability will provide us with an unparalleled resource which we can call on to help make Simraceway the most authentic racing game on the market. Thanks to Allan and Dario’s presence on the team, and Dan’s invaluable legacy, I feel like we are perfectly placed following our public beta launch in November.” – Ignite CEO Jonathan Haswell

In 2010, McNish joined the Jim Russell Future Driver Search to discover the world’s finest young racers. Now in 2012 the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School has become the Simraceway Performance Driving Center where Allan will spend time with the young drivers.

“It’s a thrill to be teaming up with Ignite on such an exciting project,” said McNish. “Through both Simraceway and the Simraceway Performance Driving Center, I’ll be able to achieve something that has always been very close to my heart: helping to develop the next generation of driving talent.”

There can't be a better-placed driver in the world than McNish to nail the realism of cars like the one he'll be driving at Sebring on Saturday, the awesome R18 TDI, and that's something he got straight to work on upon joining up.
