BaT Exclusive: 72k-Mile 1988 BMW M5 Posted: 14 Nov 2012 06:35 AM PST Chrises Cars - BaT Exclusive: 72k-Mile 1988 BMW M5 This 1988 BMW M5 (Chassis WBSDC9303J2791468) has is offered by the third owner and wears all original paint apart from the trunk lid and front air dam. The seller says that it drives flawlessly, has never been tracked, and within the last year it has had an impressive amount of cosmetic and mechanical freshening. Modifications are subtle or concealed, so the car has enhanced performance but without looking like a modified car. It is available in Thousand Oaks, California for $19,500.
The car is stock apart from the following upgrades installed within the last twelve months:
The original interior is in excellent shape and options include a BMW factory installed 6 CD changer in trunk and the original radio and speakers work perfectly according to the seller. The original window sticker and owner’s manual are included, and everything works except for electric headrests. Formotion analog clock and thermometer gauges were added to the dash, but are removable, and the car has a light and even window tinting that is California legal. The following maintenance and refurbishment items have all been done within the last twelve months:
The following items were done just prior to the seller’s purchase:
Says the seller: “There is one serious scratch in the paint on the right front fender. I think that this occurred when the original owner had the car. I have tried to show it in the last photograph in the album, but it doesn’t come out very clear. From ten feet away, it is not noticeable, but I do want to disclose it’s presence to any potential buyer.” Click here to email the seller directly if you are interested. BaT Exclusive: Blue-Plate 1971 BMW 2002 Posted: 14 Nov 2012 06:35 AM PST Chrises Cars - BaT Exclusive: Blue-Plate 1971 BMW 2002 This 1971 BMW 2002 (Chassis 1679189) is offered by the third owner who has had the car since 2009. The car has been in California since new as evidenced by the DGN-sequenced blue license plate, and was re-painted in Verona Red by the first owner. It has been upgraded with twin Weber carburetors and right-sized Panasport wheels, and has our favorite shorty rear bumper and no side trim, a clean look that was lost after ’71. The seller says it is reliable enough for a daily driver and has been garaged, but he’s lost his space so needs to sell. It is available in Irvine, California for $13,900.
The round taillight models look terrific with no bumper guards, and this is a true US-spec set-up with the license lights up on the rear panel like the later cars. The 2002 badge has been deleted, but would be easy to add in the stock location if desired. The seller says that there is no visible rust, and that the spare tire well, the front inner fenders, and shock towers are all in good shape. The interior features a very clean dash and the upholstery and door panels look great in black with grey carpets. We like the early factory silver dollar gauges, and the supplemental gauge pod is cleanly done, not unlike the factory turbo cars. The steering wheel looks like a period item, and is suitably understated in all black. The driver’s seat has a small split on the bottom section, but they look perfect in the photos. The dash has a small crack in the area over the instrument cluster, and the seller had floor mats made with German carpet to match era. According to receipts, it looks like there was an engine rebuild in 1984. At that point, the car had 118,635 miles on it, and it now shows 51,000 on the odometer, which is assumed to be 151k.It has dual side draft Webers with K&N filters, and the fuel pump was moved to the trunk. The carbs respond very well and I have had no issues with the linkage. The seller says that the factory 4-speed shifts great, and that he had clutch disc & pressure plate replaced and the flywheel was re-surfaced in 2010 with 150,062 miles. The front calipers & pads were replaced in 2009 with 146,907. Click here to email the seller directly if you are interested. Seller Submission: 1973 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Posted: 14 Nov 2012 06:35 AM PST Chrises Cars - Seller Submission: 1973 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Says the seller: “Hard to find Oldsmobile “clamshell” wagon in time-warp condition. 86K original miles, all original paint and interior, and 2 owners from new.”
1973 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser
How long have you had the car? This was a one owner car for 38 years until it was acquired by a collector last year. Describe the body condition: This car presents extremely well. Finished in “Cranberry Red Poly” the paint still shows good gloss with no faded or baked out areas. The body panels on this wagon are unbelievably straight, just very impressive in person. There are ZERO rust issues, none. Describe the mechanical condition: This wagon runs and drives just as good as it looks. The 455 Rocket V8 was just tuned with new plugs, wires, cap, points and rotor – it’s at the top of its game. Has a super smooth balanced idle and of course loads of power on tap. Included documentation: The car comes with lots of original literature, including a build sheet, first registration, dealer paperwork and a complete range of owner’s manuals. What makes this car special? The survival rate on these clamshell GM wagons was low, as they aged the combination of the big block motor and beefy wagon construction made them a favored choice for demolition derbies. Among the survivors still out there, excellent examples are rare.
