An Adam Convertible was almost a given, seeing as the car’s main rivals, Fiat 500 and Citroen DS3, both offer open-top versions. The convertible Adam will feature the same sort of roof arrangement as the Fiat 500C and Citroen DS3 Cabrio, an electric folding canvas roof that offers more of a targa experience than a full convertible feel. Adam’s roof comes all the way down like the 500C’s and rest on the tailgate while folded. The thing is, that setup works for the Fiat because it has a retro classic kind of look. It may look a bit out of place on Opel’s modern and trendy urban cruiser. The Convertible Adam will launch with three 70, 87 and 100 horsepower engines. It will cost around a 1,000 Euro more than the hardtop equivalent. It features both coupe and convertible models. Now, Jay got the Roadster first and had it heavily modified, but then he felt he should also get the Coupe. So he did, but he’s leaving this one in standard condition. This beautiful Jaguar XK120M Coupe was the fastest sports car of its time. It belongs to Jag’s golden era when they also made the V12 XJ and of course the E-Type. Fortunately, those days are coming back, what with projects like the Jaguar F-Type. It is not going to have the same impact this XK120 had back in its day, but it will definitely be one of the world’s top sports cars when it launches next year. They want to utilize their know-how in making great handling cars to make an ultimate bobsled, capable of achieving higher speeds than normal models. The sled in being made by BMW in collaboration with USA Bobsled & Skeleton Federation (USBSF). To make the best sled in business, they started out by studying existing two-man sled platforms. Team USA has 20 years of experience in the sport, which also becomes handy in the process. BMW is even applying its EfficientDynamics techniques, which means using intelligent lightweight materials, optimized aerodynamics and chassis dynamics to leverage the energy output of the two-man team, increasing overall sport performance. A prototype of the BMW two-man bobsled has already been delivered to USBSF Next stage of development involves on-site immersion with USBSF athletes, coaches and engineers by BMW Group DesignworksUSA, BMW Group’s international design studio headquartered in California, and on-ice testing by USBSF. That’s a shame, because it is one of the best, most meaningful car commercials we’ve ever seen. It’s about a driver sick of being controlled all the time by the nanny state, in search of freedom in a pure sports car that is the GT86. Guess he’s right; feeling IS a capital offense around here! The ad has something of Grand Theft Auto and Mafia games about it, and it does show a chase scene which ends with the driver breaking through the wall, but they can’t just shut it down because of that. For one thing, it is all CGI. | Ferrari F70 At The Factory With Luca Badoer Posted: 15 Nov 2012 05:27 AM PST Chrises Cars - Ferrari F70 At The Factory With Luca Badoer The work on Ferrari’s new hyper car, allegedly called the F70, is going well. The latest batch of spyshots show the car on the factory floor, getting ready for a test drive, or rather a track test, with former F1 driver and current Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer at the wheel. The car is still far from being complete – for one thing it doesn’t seem to have an interior yet – but technically, it’s all set. The F70 will be powered by a KERS-enabled V12 petrol engine. That makes it a hybrid, but it’s not an eat your green kind of hybrid. It doesn’t have as many electric motors as the Porsche 918 and will be nowhere near as economical as the German car, but it will make something like 920 horsepower and will have a top speed of over 400 km/h. If that’s Ferrari’s idea of a hybrid, bring it on. Also in the pictures you can see the car’s carbon fiber monocoque joined by the roof.
