Ultimate Gas Savers: Run Your Car by Using Water and Other Alternatives

Chrises Cars - Ultimate Gas Savers: Run Your Car by Using Water and Other Alternatives

Good News: You just bought a new car.

Bad News: Gas Prices are increasing day by day. There would come a time that you will surpass the amount that you paid for your car for all the gasoline costs. This will just be in a matter of months.

Solution: Alternative fuel

To put a solution to your problem, water to gas conversion kits are readily available in the market. They claimed to provide better mileage than that of ordinary gasoline. It is very much inexpensive and easy to install.

Different company players for the water to gas industry are providing easy step by step installation guides to assist in installing this water to gas converter in your car engines. After installing it, it does not mean that water will totally replace gas as means of fuel. Water would be a supplement to gasoline. You just have to make sure that you are putting in ½ cup of water weekly 3 cups of distilled or tap water within 3-6 weeks in the quart-sized container under the hood of your car. Just don’t forget to put the catalyst which is baking soda also in the said container. Pronto! What you have is a car that runs on water and gas.

This is not the first time that water was tried or used for an alternative fuel. Alternative fuels are also known as non-conventional fuels. They are materials or substances that can be used as a fuel aside from the usual fuel that we used like petroleum, coal, propane and natural gas. Several sources of alternative fuel are the renewable energy that comes from wind power, solar power, tidal power, geothermal power and hydropower. Biomass, which is the energy coming from living and recently dead biological material, serves also as a source of alternative fuel.

Naturally, when gasoline prices rise up, people think of alternative fuel source. There would be cars that run natural gas or NGV. It is fuel efficient, environmentally friendly and offers a relatively low cost of ownership. Electric vehicles (EV) are powered by fuel cells. While hybrid cars uses two or more distinct power source to propel the vehicle. A mo-ped (motorized pedal bike) can be classified as a hybrid vehicle since it combines the power of a gasoline engine and the pedal power of the rider.
There are also flexible fuel vehicles or FFVs.

They are capable of operating on gasoline, E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) or even a mixture of both. Flexible fuel vehicles contain one duelling system which is made up of ethanol compatible components. Propane, also known as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), has been used in vehicles since 1920. There are dedicated propane vehicles designed to run only on propane. While there are bi-propane vehicles. These vehicles have two separate fuelling systems that enable the vehicle to use either propane or gasoline.

Propane powered engines are said to have a life of up to two times that of gasoline powered engines. Lower maintenance costs are also prime reason behind propane’s popularity.

There are lost of alternative fuel choices in the market. It could be using the water to gas conversion system that does not require you to change your engine or overhauling your whole vehicle to make way for a hybrid car. Main thing is we choose something that is suitable for our needs and meets our objectives and standards.

Chrises Cars - New S-Class Details Emerge

2048 tecday w222 IMG 9895 724x482 New S Class Details Emerge

Around the second half of next year, Mercedes-Benz will be launching the replacement for its flagship line, the type W222 S-Class. As we have come to expect, this premiere vehicle will feature a slew of new technologies, like LED lighting for the headlights (as well as all other lights), a night vision system, pedestrian awareness systems and a stereo camera that provides, among other things, input for control of the active suspension system.

All nice and welcome, but the heart of any car is the powerplant, and once again, Mercedes engineers don't disappoint. As expected, we will have an S600, with S63 and S65 AMG versions. And at the other end of the scale, there is the 4-cylinder M274 that will power the S300 BlueEFFICIENCY with its 250 horsepower output.

Executives will appreciate the quietness and efficiency of the new S-Class hybrids, which, in S500 HYBRID guise, will feature a V6 with plug-in capability. So apart from regenerative braking technology, the hybrid S-Class can also be charged from an ordinary charging outlet. On its electric motor alone, the S500 HYBRID will have a range of 50 kilometers. As a result, urban dwellers can take comfort in contributing negligible emissions from their decidedly ostentatious luxury rides.

A-Class CDI Sport To Be Available By March 2013

Chrises Cars - A-Class CDI Sport To Be Available By March 2013

2048 12C80 0971 724x471 A Class CDI Sport To Be Available By March 2013 Coming in March 2012 is another A-Class derivative that will be known as the A220 CDI Sport. Now, diesel and sport have traditionally been terms that aren't put together when describing a car. All that has changed, however, with the evolution of prototype endurance racers that have been consistent champions at Le Mans and other venues.

Powering the A220 CDI Sport is a tuned version of the Type OM651 engine. With its modified exhaust and 2.1 liter displacement, this diesel puts out 170 horsepower, with a corresponding 260 ft-lbs. of torque. Coupled to the engine is a 7-speed DCT. Complementing this perky diesel are finishing touches that set the CDI Sport apart, like 18-inch AMG wheels, red-painted calipers, AMG-tuned suspension and a distinctive perforated. Inside, you’ll find sport seats (with contrasting stitching), a distinctive gauge cluster, sporty red harnesses and carbon fiber trim.

Frugal yet sporty. Sounds like an enticing combination. But not until you learn that the price of admission for this A-Class is 37,000 Euros.

1922 Alfa Romeo RL

Chrises Cars - 1922 Alfa Romeo RL

As was the custom at the time, the 1922 Alfa Romeo RL (designed by Guiseppe Mererosi) was offered to coachbuilders as a rolling chassis – the frame, engine, suspension, brakes, etc., which then built the body according to individual customer’s requirements. Zagato, which is still in business today in Milan, built the greatest of the Alfa Romeo RL cars, the RL Supersport Zagato, in 1926. Right from the start three different chassis options were offered: the Normale, the Turismo and the Sport. By the standards of the day, the Alfa Romeo RL was a real top of the line automobile: large, comfortable and aggressive, not to mention quite beautiful. On a site note, one of the RL was raced in the Targa Florio by none other than a very young Enzo Ferrari.

1922 Alfa Romeo RL

1922 Alfa Romeo RL

While the RL isn’t really a fast car by today’s standard, back then it was quite the racing machine. Fitted with a 2.9-liter, straight six engine, it could achieve a top speed of 150 km/h (93 miles an hour). This performance was achieved using a Zagato sport version. Because different coach-builders built the bodies differently, significant performance differences exist between cars, mostly because of the weight.

The 1922 Alfa Romeo RL remained in production, essentially unchanged, until 1927. While over 2,600 of them were made – an impressive figure for the time – relatively few survive to this day, making them quite the rare find.

1935 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B

Chrises Cars - 1935 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B

Regarded by many as one of the most refined production sports car of the pre-war period, the 1935 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B is a masterpiece of design and technology. Like many high-end cars of that period, Alfa Romeo usually only produced the chassis, while the bodywork and interior were made by external coach builders. For this reason, many of the 8C 2900B are quite different, but they are all beautiful and very, very highly collectible. Originally a race car that was turned into a passenger sports car – to cash in on racing success, a sales method every successful manufacturer tries to use – very few of these beautiful cars were ever made, increasing their appeal, desirability and of course, price.

1935 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B

1935 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B

The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B was powered by a 2.9-liter straight eight engine. Because the body varied from car to car, so did the performance, however a top speed of around 120 miles per hour could be expected. Needless to say, back in 1935 that was quite exceptional.

The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B remained in production from 1935 to 1939, when World War II started up in Europe. Over that period, 30 of these exceptional cars were made, 20 of them being convertible and the remaining 10, coupes. Needless  to say that anyone owning such a car today is the owner of an important part of motoring history!

BMW ePatrol = DesignworksUSA fantasy land

Chrises Cars - BMW ePatrol = DesignworksUSA fantasy land

BMW ePatrol

In just 13 years from now this is the police car that BMW’s DesignworksUSA thinks will be patrolling the streets. The BMW ePatrol is their entry into the LA Auto Show design challenge; this year’s brief is to create highway patrol vehicle for the year 2025.

We understand it’s a competition and we understand it’s all about being creative and pushing accepted current day thinking. But 13 years is just one more 3 Series model away. Perhaps if the brief was for the year 2050 we might be getting close to the right page. But what do we know?

Here’s how Laurenz Schaffer, DesignworksUSA President, explains their creation: “DesignworksUSA’s role as a think tank is to challenge the status quo of existing product solutions. We wanted to present a visionary impulse to the theme of highway patrol.

“Hence our contribution to the L.A. Design Challenge is a vision concept with no links to BMW’s future design strategy. We took the liberty to think out of the box. To emphasize the conceptual approach our design is independent from BMW design elements and known visual cues but looks at new product typologies and fresh ideas on shapes.”

Regardless of how rooted in reality the ePatrol may or may not be, it does look pretty cool!

ePatrol: BMW Group DesignworksUSA shows futuristic vision of police vehicle of the year 2025.

19.11.2012

Los Angeles/ Munich. The L.A. Autoshow is not just the place to inspect new models of automotive companies. For the 9th time, it is also the place where the design teams of the top automotive companies enter a creative competition of the most exciting kind when presenting visionary concepts around the topic of individual mobility. In 2012 the challenge for the design teams was to create the ultimate 2025 highway patrol vehicle. The solution delivered by BMW subsidiary DesignworksUSA demonstrates that BMW´s design think tank has more to offer than a rich 40 year history of product design. The visionary concept ePatrol gives a glimpse into the forceful power of innovation and future thinking that the mother company BMW Group as well as external clients from manifold industries may expect from DesignworksUSA in the 40 years to come.

Design Challenge.

In 2012 the design teams were tasked with exploring creative solutions for futuristic patrol cars based on a set of criteria which included: future needs for advanced technology; speed and agility on future freeway systems; creativity of the solution; and meeting a specific region’s emission standards and environmental sensibility (including maintenance and recyclability). Furthermore the teams were challenged to look into the future to envision and create the trends and tools that haven’t been imagined with the added complexity of a vehicle fit for law enforcement. Laurenz Schaffer, President of DesignworksUSA comments the solution delivered by the design team: "DesignworksUSA’s role as a think tank is to challenge the status quo of existing product solutions", he says. "We wanted to present a visionary impulse to the theme of highway patrol. Hence our contribution to the L.A. Design Challenge is a vision concept with no links to BMW’s future design strategy. We took the liberty to think out of the box. To emphasize the conceptual approach our design is independent from BMW design elements and known visual cues but looks at new product typologies and fresh ideas on shapes", Schaffer continues.

ePatrol : A dream project for designers.

The BMW Group DesignworksUSA team began the challenge by selecting Los Angeles as the region to create a 2025 scenario. Being aware that there will be more traffic, faster vehicles, and vehicles with alternative drive trains the design team explored how a patrol team functioned today and in the future and determined that teamwork and accessibility were the two key elements to a successful patrol effort. For teamwork, the design team was inspired by the partnership between a patrol officer and their canine. The clogged highways today and in the future inspired the design team to focus on a solution to increase accessibility.

Design Solution.

The design of the ePatrol Vision centers on a modular structure and drone technology that enhanced both teamwork and accessibility. The main structure can deploy three drones. The top drone sits above the main structure and is a flying drone, while the other two are one wheel vehicles attached to the rear. In the case of a pursuit during heavy traffic areas, the patrol officer sitting in the two passenger main structure can deploy either the flying drone or one of the single wheel drones to chase the suspect and report back data to the main structure. When all drones are deployed, the main structure can continue to function. All drones have added protection benefits in that they can send an impulse to another vehicle and disable it. Throughout the exterior design, the team strived to create a powerful stance with an aerodynamic aesthetic and flowing lines.

The interior design was inspired by a woven structure made of aluminum wire inside carbon fibre and polymer resin. The seats form a significant connection between driver and architecture. From a manufacturing standpoint, the 3D woven carbon fibre structure has the advantage that tooling is not required. All interfaces within the interior are touch screen. For greater protection to the patrol officers, windows are not included in the vehicle. The windshield is replaced with a large screen that on the exterior can communicate critical information such as accidents or route information to other drivers. On the interior, the large screen acts as a monitor on which data from the drones can be displayed.

The New Audi A3 Sportback Makes Its International Debut

  • New A3 Sportback sets new standards in the premium compact segment
  • Powerful and efficient engines, ultra lightweight construction and intuitive connect technology
  • Australian arrival scheduled for April 2013

The new A3 Sportback has made its international debut around the famous roads of Monte Carlo. The compact five-door model with the spacious luggage compartment is exceptionally light, thanks to ultra lightweight technology. The engines are powerful and highly efficient. The infotainment with the intuitive connect technology and the driver assistance systems available in the new A3 Sportback set new standards in the premium compact segment. The overall design language concentrates on the essentials, with each individual design element making a confident aesthetic statement.

A lightweight car is a prerequisite for sportiness and efficiency. ultra lightweight technology from Audi reduces the weight of the new Audi A3 Sportback by as much as 90 kilograms compared with the previous version. Equipped with the 1.4 TFSI engine, the five-door model has a kerb weight (without driver) of just 1,205 kilograms. Hot-shaped steels are used in the occupant cell of the new A3 Sportback to reduce the weight. The complete occupant cell is 37 kilograms lighter overall than in the previous model. Significant weight reductions were also achieved in the interior and with the engines. Audi, worldwide pioneer in lightweight construction, has reversed the weight spiral and once again set a new record.

The body of the new Audi A3 Sportback is long and lean. While the length (4,310 mm), width (1,780 mm) and height (1,425 mm) of the new model are only slightly greater than on the previous model, the wheelbase is now significantly longer at 2,636 mm, an increase of 58 mm.

The front end is low; the roof arch spans a dome that extends beyond the subtle roof spoiler to the muscular tail end. The design with the three side windows is taut, with every detail precise and expressive. The large wheel wells underscore the sporty aspirations of the new Audi A3 Sportback.

The distinctive, Stone Grey single-frame grille with the angled upper corners is the distinguishing element at the front of the vehicle. Its horizontal slats and the Audi rings are highlighted three-dimensionally. The flat headlights are works of art and give the new Audi A3 Sportback a determined gaze. Full LED headlights will be offered at a later time.

The interior of the new A3 Sportback is elegant, airy and cleanly designed. It carries over the dynamics of the exterior. The instrument panel with its curving front is slim and low. Together with the centre console oriented toward the driver, it appears to float slightly.

Large, round air nozzles in jet design, the elegant user interface panel for the climate control system and sculpturally styled trim set the tone – with their polish they bring the quality of the full-size class into the new A3 Sportback. The seats and steering wheels are new developments, and the car's user controls are clear and intuitive – as they are in every Audi. The compact five-door model offers a generous luggage capacity of between 380 and 1,220 litres (with the rear seats folded flat).

Customised online services, which the brand offers in Europe via Audi connect, network drivers to the Internet and rapidly supply the driver with key information – in an easy-to-comprehend format. The connection to the Internet is established via Audi connect, an extension of the MMI navigation plus system. Passengers can surf and e-mail freely with up to eight mobile devices via the integrated WLAN hotspot.

In Europe, the system delivers Internet services tailored for the driver to the car – from navigation with Google Earth images and Google Maps Street View to Audi online traffic information to services such as Facebook and Twitter. Audi connect recently added flight and train information, and the City Events service provides information on current happenings. Audi connect offers drivers for the first time the ability to have e-mail read aloud and to dictate text messages (SMS).
Audi connect technology is planned for an Australian debut in the new A3 Sportback when it arrives in 2013. The online and networking features available through Audi connect for the local market will be confirmed closer to launch.

Audi is bringing its assistance systems from the full-size class to the premium compact segment for convenience and a superior driving experience. They range from adaptive cruise control to Audi side assist and Audi active lane assist to the safety system Audi pre sense basic. The driver information system with rest recommendation is standard.

The new Audi A3 Sportback is launching in Europe with two TDI and two TFSI engines, all of which are new developments. Their engine displacements range from 1.4 to 2.0 litres and their power from 77 kW to 132 kW. Technologies from the modular efficiency platform help to reduce their fuel consumption by an average of nine percent compared with the previous model. Additional diesel and gasoline engines will follow later, as will the TCNG engine, which can be operated on Audi e-gas or natural gas.

The new A3 Sportback also underscores its technological leadership role in power transmission. At its launch, the 1.8 TFSI is being offered with a seven-speed S tronic; in combination with the vehicle dynamics system Audi drive select, it offers a free-wheeling function that reduces fuel consumption. The 1.4 TFSI and 2.0 TDI are paired with a manual six-speed transmission. quattro permanent all-wheel drive will follow shortly.

The chassis and the long wheelbase (2,636 mm) of the new Audi A3 Sportback combine sporty driving enjoyment with high levels of comfort and impressive stability. The power steering system with sensitive response and direct gearing has an efficient electromechanical drive. The ESC stabilisation control system integrates an electronic limited slip differential – this makes handling even smoother and safer in fast driving through curves.

The optional Audi drive select system lets the driver vary the operating of engine management, the power steering system and S tronic in different modes. The system also incorporates Audi magnetic ride, adaptive or standard cruise control, adaptive light and the air conditioning system. Wheel sizes range from 16 to 18 inches in diameter, and sport suspension can also be optioned.

Australian arrival

The new Audi A3 Sportback is scheduled to arrive in Australia in April 2013. The full model and engine line-up, including pricing and specification details, will be announced closer to launch.
