Audi Developing Diesel Hybrid Super Car Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - Audi Developing Diesel Hybrid Super Car Audi is going to try once again making a diesel-powered super car. Their previous efforts resulted in the magnificent R8 V12 TDI Concept, which never made it into production. This time they seem to be serious, and they are thinking about a diesel-electric hybrid system. Audi already has a formidable diesel electric powertrain in its possession, the system that won the R18 e-Tron quattro a Le Mans victory. The hybrid system will enable Audi to replace the heavy and illogical V12 TDI engine that killed the previous project with a compact and more efficient V8, and still get the power and performance they desire. That is all the info available on the car right now, in addition to the fact that it will use a carbon monocoque chassis, and that it will probably be called R10. via Autocar The post Audi Developing Diesel Hybrid Super Car appeared first on Chrises Cars - Bringing You The Latest Motoring News And More |
Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - Wald Lexus IS-F by SR Auto This SR Auto project appeals most of all to the fans of Japanese tuning. They’ve fitted a Lexus IS-F with a Black Bison kit from the renowned Japanese tuner Wald International, and then bolted on a set of Vossen wheels on it to make it really special. The Black Bison kit is pretty heavy and changes the looks of the high-performance Lexus rather dramatically. It includes a revised front bumper with a new carbon lip and carbon intakes, new side skirts, flared arches, blacked-out roof, rear spoiler and diffuser. The Vossen wheels on this car are the CV3 models in size 20×9 front and 20×10.5 rear, with a Machined Black finish. Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - Vilner Audi S5 Vilner’s latest project car is an Audi S5 coupe. The Bulgarian tuner is mainly an interior specialist, but they tend to tweak the styling of the cars they work on as well. they don’t do body kits, but they do have a good taste in choosing the right color and wheel design. In the case of this S5 they have wrapped the car in matte gray, with silver mirror caps and side skirts, and gloss black grilles, wheels and accenting. But as always the best part of the car is the interior. And Vilner has once again done a great job. The bland and boring Audi cabin is livened up thanks to a blend of black and brown leather and Alcantara. The two-tone theme is seen everywhere, from the steering wheel to the headliner, even door panels. The quality of Vilner’s work and the attention to details in their cars are astonishing.

Mazda MX-5 Facelift Priced From £18,495 In UK Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - Mazda MX-5 Facelift Priced From £18,495 In UK The new look Mazda MX-5, which is probably the last new version of the current generation, goes on sale in the UK from 1 December, priced from £18,495 to £23,595. Between the Soft-top and Roadster Coupe models, you have seven different models to choose from. Available engines include a 1.8 and a 2.0 liter. The thoroughly upgraded Mazda MX-5 not only gets a fresh new face that is a bit manlier than before, it also comes with lots of new features including active pedestrian-friendly bonnet, satellite navigation system (with integrated 5.8-inch touch screen monitor, 4GB SD card based map, and…), side airbags, and climate control air-conditioning. The amazing driving experience, which is the main reason to buy the MX-5, is also enhanced in this version. Updating the 'Jinba Ittai' handling finesse, Mazda has given the new roadster a modified throttle that matches the six-speed manual ‘box better to improve responsiveness and give more linear, nimble acceleration. The brakes are tweaked as well. The engines are unchanged though. You still get the 126ps 1.8i MZR with a five-speed gearbox, and the 160ps 2.0i MZR with a smooth-shifting six-speed manual transmission or 'PowerShift' six-speed sequential paddle-shift. There is an all-new Mazda MX-5 in the works which will arrive in 2014. That car will also spawn an Alfa Romeo sports car.

REGULA Audi R8 Is Quite Irregular! Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - REGULA Audi R8 Is Quite Irregular! This is an Audi R8 Coupe fitted with the Grandiose body kit from Regula Tuning. It is possibly the craziest kit ever designed for the German super car, but as you can see it is not the prettiest. The kit is made of aramid fiber which is used in aerospace and military industries. Shown here on the new V10 R8, the package includes a new front bumper featuring absolutely massive air intakes, mesh grille, spoiler lip, and extra intakes for brakes, new side skirts, carbon roof, fixed rear wing, and modified rear-end with lots of vents and a uniquely designed diffuser. Such radical looks needed radical wheels to go with it, so the tuner chose 20 inch Oxigin wheels model Oxrock with a width of 8.5 inches at the front and 11 inches at the rear. They are wrapped in high performance tires in size 235/30 R20 at the front and 295/25 R20 at the rear. The body kit is surprisingly well priced at just 7,698 Euros. It can be fitted to V8 and Spyder models as well.

Ferrari’s 20th Anniversary In China Celebrated With Large Parade Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - Ferrari's 20th Anniversary In China Celebrated With Large Parade A large parade of Ferrari cars and an even larger gathering of Ferrari fans in the city of Guangzhou marked the 20th anniversary of the brand in China. It was the closing even of 11 months of celebrations, and was attended by Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo. More than 250,000 people turned up at the event, where some of them got to meet Mr. di Montezemolo, and witness a parade of over 130 Ferraris on the streets of Guangzhou. The cars paraded from the local Ferrari showroom as far as the Haixinsha stadium. Another highlight of the event was the illumination of the Canton Tower, the city's main landmark, in red for the occasion. China is Ferrari's second most important market along with Germany, with sales that have reached over 700 and with a 25-strong dealership network. "It has been a marvellous day of celebrations," commented Luca di Montezemolo, "with many enthusiasts, a lot of young people and the city full of Ferrari flags. This has been the best demonstration yet of what the Prancing Horse represents in China – not just from a commercial point of view, but above all else for the Chinese people's passion for Ferrari."

MG Working On A New Breed Of Sports Car Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - MG Working On A New Breed Of Sports Car After years of uncertainty, MG Motor Company has been stable for the past few years thanks to its new owner, the Chinese SAIC. Now that they are making a bit of money, the top brass is tempted to go back to their British roots and make a sports car. It’s not any sports car, mind you, but a new breed that MG says will reinvent this class of cars. The thing is, for the time being this sports car is just a thought in MG executive David Lindley’s head. The Chinese owner of the company is not fond of a car that only appeals to a small group of customers in Europe. They want more sedans and hatchbacks from MG, because that’s what sells in China. Still, Lindley says there’s hope this project yet: "There’s a definite understanding from our Chinese owners what [a sports car] will do for our brand.” He continued: "The traditional sports car industry is shrinking and shrinking. We want to create something that’s seen as the next breed of sports car.” It all depends on the company’s plans for European expansion. Given MG’s glorious history in making rear-drive sports cars, they can probably come up with something good if SAIC let them, even though their latest effort in making something a bit sporty – the MG Icon Concept – was, quite frankly, rubbish. Fortunately they are not going to continue that project, so that’s good! Subaru BRZ STi Due Next Year With 230bhp Posted: 23 Nov 2012 05:20 AM PST Chrises Cars - Subaru BRZ STi Due Next Year With 230bhp Subaru BRZ (Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S) is one of the best sports car in the world right now, but you shouldn’t buy one. What you should do is wait, because there are sportier, more powerful versions of the car coming next year. They will be slightly more expensive, but a lot more fun. While Toyota is apparently thinking of a hybrid system to boost the GT86′s performance, Subaru is sticking to more conventional ways. Next year they will launch a production version of the BRZ STi concept, featuring modified air intake system, variable valve control system and a sport free-flow exhaust system. These changes will boost the 2.0 liter engine’s output from 197bhp to around 230bhp. That doesn’t sound like much, but it should be enough to give the BRZ a fresh breath of life. The STi treatment also include chassis upgrade. The car will get revised springs and dampers, 18-inch wheels with fatter tires, and four-piston STi brakes. Test units have already been dispatched to the Nurburgring to test these changes. So no turbo or supercharged BRZ or GT86 is being considered for now. A turbocharger won’t fit under the bonnet of the car, and a supercharger will have a negative effect on its efficiency. That probably means we can’t expect a properly high performance version – with like 300bhp or something like that – in the near future. via AutoExpress The post Subaru BRZ STi Due Next Year With 230bhp appeared first on Chrises Cars - Bringing You The Latest Motoring News And More |
