ABS Standard on All BMW Motorcycles Posted: 05 Jul 2012 10:00 PM PDT |
Hey guys, Jon here again. From model year 2013, BMW Motorrad will be offering ABS as a standard feature in all models. The company is being proactive, significantly pre-empting the requirement for ABS likely to be introduced in 2016 for all newly registered motorcycles in Europe. The first new models in which this measure is to be applied are the 2-cylinder models BMW F 700 GS and BMW F 800 GS.
As a leading motorcycle manufacturer, BMW Motorrad has always been aware of its social responsibility. In 1988 the company presented the world’s first serial production motorcycles with the antilock brake system ABS: the most effective technical safety bonus to this day.

Hey, what’s going on guys? The Ducati-based, Tamburini-styled DB1 has long been one of the most desirable of Bimotas, but the ultra-rare DB1R racer, built in conjunction with the Ducati factory, powered by a Ferracci-tuned 853cc engine is the most coveted of all.
The DB1 was the first Bimota with a Ducati engine. As well as the standard DB1 and the very limited DB1R, there was the DB1S, which had different exhausts and larger carburetors. Only 63 were made.
There was also the DB1SR, which had a highly tuned engine and two-piece wheels made by Marvic/Akront. Only 153 were made. Scoop up one if you ever get the chance and own a piece of motorcycle history.
