Marco Holzer sets no44 on first row at Lime Rock Park Posted: 06 Jul 2012 04:26 PM PDT Patrick Long brought the No. 45 in fourth with a time of 51.483 in today’s GT qualifying for the 2012 Northeast Grand Prix, which gets the green flag this Saturday, July 7 at Lime Rock Park. In the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche, Marco Holzer clocked the second fastest GT time of 51.299 in the qualifying session but the car did not meet the ride height minimum during post-qualifying technical inspection. As a result, the No. 44 will start from the rear of the grid. The No. 55 BMW is on the GT pole. Long commented on the session: “One word to describe it would be eventful. Early in the qualifying session we went to P1, but from then on I wasn’t able to get a clear lap because of some wild moments with traffic. I was disappointed that I didn’t get the maximum out of the Porsche during the session but I think we’ll have a very balanced car for tomorrow’s race.” Holzer added: “It was an interesting day for the No. 44. In the practice sessions before qualifying we struggled to get to the right setup, but were able to get things ready before we went out for qualifying. I had a great lap and I think we’ll have a solid car for the race. This year we have a longer warmup on raceday so we’ll have one last chance to finalize things before racestart.” - Flying Lizard Motorsports | © Bob Chapman, Autosport Image Related posts: You're reading Marco Holzer sets no44 on first row at Lime Rock Park originally posted on oneighturbo.com. James Walker on pole at APR Volkswagen Racing Cup Spa Posted: 06 Jul 2012 07:23 AM PDT James Walker bagged his second pole position of the APR Volkswagen Racing Cup season at Spa-Francorchamps this morning, the KPM Scirocco driver eight-tenths faster around the Belgian Grand Prix circuit than his closest rival. Walker was the only man to break the 2:51sec barrier on the 7km circuit; his team-mate Mike Neuhoff was second fastest in his Mk VI Golf GTI, with returning champion Tony Gilham third in his Mk V Golf. Walker’s closest title rival, Aaron Mason, will line up fourth on the grid for this afternoon’s opening VW Cup race, ahead of Stewart Lines and Tom Wilson, who bounced back after an early-session off at the Bus Stop chicane to post sixth quickest time. Tony Harberman was 10th fastest – a career best – in his Beetle. APR Volkswagen Racing CupProvisional qualifying times Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) 6/7/12
